Going Through Trials Alone and Finding Comfort

Why do we have to go through trials? Why can’t life be an easier ride? Even people who seem to have everything suffer from depression and can’t find the answers.

The good news is, there are plenty of people in the world, and some are likely to understand what you’re going through.

We are all connected

Sometimes it doesn’t feel like we are all connected, especially if you feel isolated as a result of individuals or groups. If you’ve been hurt by someone or a group of people, or if it simply feels as though the world is against you, it can be hard to connect with other people at any level.

The reality is that we are all connected. And the cause can sometimes be the solution as well. Maybe you feel isolated going through your trials, but it’s possible your thinking is limited. What if there is another person, or group of people, who are more likely to understand your trials?

Sharing thoughts can help

It’s easy to become locked in your own head, especially if you feel isolated anyway and you doubt that anyone can understand what you’re going through. The problem with this outlook is that you limit your possibilities and risk living inside a self-fulfilling prophecy that you live inside.

Sharing your thoughts with someone else gives you perspective on your problems, and makes you think in new ways. It’s a little bit like realizing there is another room through the doors of the one you’re standing in. Suddenly, there is another way to think about your trial that can be inspirational.

Isolation becomes the issue

If you feel ostracized or you isolate yourself because of anxiety or social fear, it helps in the short term. In the long term, the comfort of isolation starts to become a burden. Over time it becomes harder to connect with people and communicate. It becomes another trial.

When we don’t communicate with anyone, it can be hazardous to our mental health. Unless you are trained to control your thoughts and thinking processes, they can take over your life and become restrictive. If you think you are isolated, try phoning someone non-judgemental.

Community is a solution

Sometimes the problem is the solution! That means that you are isolated because of people, and communicating with them makes you fearful. But it’s possible you are not communicating with the right people. It could be that finding the right group helps you connect with the world.

Nowadays, the world is a big place, and it’s not only big, but it’s also accessible. From the comfort of your home, you can contact others like you through internet forums and mental health hotlines. Stay anonymous if you like, but share your ideas honestly with a trained listener.

Personal ideas are limited

Again, we all need some perspective to ensure we are inadequate mental wellness; that’s why people have friends and acquaintances to talk to. Not everyone has the right answer or the best opinion, but your personal ideas might not be accurate or true either, so test them out on others.
